Our trail head begins at an elevation
of roughly 9,250 feet. The top of our area ends at the majestic
Sunshine & Redcloud Peaks, both of which are over 14,000
feet in elevation. The land is covered in aspen and pine trees
with sprinkled high plain meadows and clearings.
The
Colorado Division of Wildlife point restrictions and limited
draw areas over the past have allowed our elk herds to grow
well in excess of 300,000 animals. With our hunting unit 66
being one of these point restrictive and limited draw areas,
our clients have an excellent opportunity of taking a quality
trophy elk. At Lake City Outfitters, our hunts are well-organized,
and efficient. As well, we insist upon absolute honesty and
ethical behavior in every aspect of our business.
" Catch the thrill of the spot-and-stalk
hunt."
Our
guests stay in heated canvas outfitter tents equipped with
cots and other amenities. Our guests will arrive the morning
before the hunt and we will ride horseback to our base
camp.
Camps are located several miles from
the roads and are only accessible by foot or horseback. The
horses are kept in camp and are used for traveling and packing
purposes. Hunts are conducted mainly by foot, as it is more
productive. Our horses are calm, gentle, and sure-footed for
even the least-experienced horseman. We will travel in
the breathtaking beauty of the Rocky Mountains for five days
searching for that one special trophy. The morning following,
we will pack out and hope to see you back the following year.
We
at Lake City Outfitters will strive to make your experience
with us the best it can possibly be. We are dedicated and know
what it takes to make a hunt successful and enjoyable. We will
provide a hunt that you will remember for a lifetime.
